Out of the mouths of babes

Can I just say what a great kid I’ve got? When I was talking to Kidlet Jr about his bike this afternoon, he blew me away. I told him that it was in fact stolen and not just “missing” or “moved” like he first thought. He paused. Thought about it.

Then, he said, “Well, Mommy, if someone went to all that trouble to steal it and do something so wrong, I guess maybe they needed it more than I do. Besides, they can’t really enjoy it if they have to hide it and can’t ride it around. I forgive them.”

I of course handled it in an amazing way. I just stood there with my mouth hanging open and tears in my eyes. I mean, I was ready to throttle the kid that took the bike. I have been angry about it all day.

And here is this 7 year old boy who in a matter of moments, decided the thief was needy and forgave him. I guess I could use a lesson or two in anger management from my kidlet.

Man, that boy blows me away!
