Blogging for fun. What a concept!

At some point in the past year or so I lost track of why I started blogging in the first place.  It became about making sure I put something up to keep from being removed from a network.  Or make it about numbers to keep some “authority” in ranking.  Or writing because there was something I was supposed to write about.

Somewhere along the line I lost sight of  why I write here.  I lost sight that this blog is for me.  (Well, and you, too.)  But mainly?  I write for me.  I write because I absolutely love to write.  I like to tell stories.  I enjoy sharing my perspective on life as a mom of 3 kids.  I mean come on.  With two teenagers there are tons of stories to tell.  Being a part of the board on two different PTAs?  Stories gallore!   Married to my high school sweetheart who is a man who likes things orderly and controlled  who somehow managed to marry Miss Chaos herself.  Stories!

But mainly?  I love the community I used to have.  The friends I have made.  The fun!

Blogging for fun.  What a concept!

So?  Where am I going with this?  Well, I want to get better.  I want to write more for fun.  For me.  For the sheer joy it used to bring me.  So can you do me a favor?  Help me out a bit?  Kick me in the virtual butt if I stop or go totally boring or just seem to be phoning it in.  Oh, I know, that is totally not your responsibility.  However, when I know that at least one person is reading and at least one person cares, it makes a difference.  It makes me want to be a better blogger.  A better writer.

Help me help you help me.  Or something like that.

And because you put up with me, I give you the random family quote of the day:

“It’s not that I don’t want to talk to you, Mom.  It’s just that I don’t want to listen to you.” – 15 year old son

Oh, and I am about to totally redesign the blog.  But there is one small problem…I have no idea how to do it.  Any tips, ideas or suggestions.  It is time for a brand new look with the brand new attitude.  Can I hear a w00t w00t?  Wait.  On second though, nix the w00t w00t. Kinda lame-o!

  1. Who cares if it’s lame, I’ll give you a w00t w00t! 🙂 I miss your stories.

  2. No suggestions on the redesign. I have the same dilemma myself but I am putting it off to the new year in between my first draft and first read/revision.

Blogging sometimes gets to be a chore but when it does, I remind myself that I write because I need the practice and people actually seem to like reading it. The second part is the bigger motivator because the writer in me needs to be read. It’s more important than breathing.

  3. If blogging ain’t fun, it becomes a chore in an over-subscribed life. Quick little riffs are the best, to read and write, too. You go, girl!

  4. I’d love to see you here more often. I haven’t nudged in the past but I love your stories. I will nudge from time to time-but only because you asked!

    Merry Christmas, Friend!

  5. Isn’t it funny how we all get caught up in the “I must” and “I have to” and “How many?” when we all started blogging just so we had an outlet…?

I’ll be here whenever you write – just because.

  6. you’re doing fine, happy new year!

  7. Most bloggers are unremunerated writers who yearn for readership and, yes, pay, but we’ll settle for a loyal following.

  8. I’m looking forward to the new look, whatever it is! Come take a look at mine if you’re browsing for different layouts.

  9. looking fwd to seeing the redesign. do you make your pictures?

  10. I’ll keep you in check. And I love that family quote. It gave me a giggle….and I needed that. 🙂

  11. I really like when people are expressing their opinion and thought. So I like the way you are writing
